CESISP is engaged in a research project aimed at defining the strategic role of the manufacturing industry in the development of key technologies for decarbonisation.
One of the main objectives is to develop a model for analysing the competitive positioning of the Italian manufacturing industry in the priority sectors identified by EU policy, such as the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA). This analysis aims to identify the interconnections between the manufacturing sector and key technologies for the energy transition.

The project proposes an integrated scenario that combines new energy policies with optimal management of critical raw materials. The aim is to strengthen the competitive positioning of Italian industry in key sectors, identifying support measures for an integrated and resilient production chain.

A further objective is to develop industrial policies that bridge the gap in production capacity for key technologies, promoting technological innovation and addressing operational risks through (a) incentive policies for the reshoring of production capacity and (b) the development of training tools for the industrial sector.

This project therefore aims to understand the position of Italian industry in the production of key technologies for decarbonisation, whilst promoting economic resilience and environmental sustainability.
